At Heartland, one of our great passions is to help men become all God created them to be. And we believe that when they do, they will lead healthy families, build thriving churches, and strengthen their communities! So what do we think men of God look like?
Heartland Men …
- reject passivity,
- accept responsibility,
- lead courageously, and
- live for a greater reward.
This is what our Men’s Ministry is all about. And while we have a long way to go, our desire is to see every Heartland man relationally connected with other men in some way; pursuing God in community is the BEST way to become all that God intended for us to be!
Come join us on this great adventure!
And to receive our monthly Heartland Men email updates, email Pastor Greg with the words “Monthly Emails” in the subject line, and he’ll add you to his list!
Guys, who really knows you? Who can you turn to for advice, for support in tough situations, and for correction or challenge when you need it? One of Heartland’s key values is Connecting In Community, and our definition of this is:
We will live life together in small groups, knowing others and being known.
We will live lives of transparency and accountability at every level, speaking the truth in love.
We have men’s-only small groups that run all year long, allowing guys to experience real-life together, and groups that run for a short period of 6-10 weeks, allowing guys to step into community and experience it for the first time.

Life Groups are the Heart of Heartland! In these long-term groups, deep and meaningful relationships are formed as people learn, laugh, play and pray together. Groups meet on various days of the week at locations in and around Strathcona County and cover topics that are relevant to the group. They represent every age and stage of life and meet as mixed adults/couples, or as men-only or women-only groups.
Each Life Group has a unique feel and personality. Following Christ through the seasons of life, Life Groups live out what it means to be the church. Our hope is that you are able to find a Life Group that becomes your church family. IF you have any questions you can contact the church office at 780-467-7005 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Pastor of Men & Small Groups
Greg originally comes from Grande Prairie, and arrived at Heartland in early 2016, following 20 years of various pastoral roles in 4 other Alliance churches. One of his greatest passions is to see people step out in faith and discover the potential God has created in them, so working with men and coaching small group leaders provide great opportunities for him to do what he loves! Greg also really enjoys music, fishing, sports and games of all kinds, and is blessed to do life together with his kids Jon & Rachel and his best friend Debra (married since 1991). But most of all, Greg is constantly overwhelmed with the depth of God's grace to him, and wants to live fully surrendered and completely devoted to Jesus.
