As we continue to navigate COVID-19 guidelines, our Small Groups are going through some changes for the summer.

Here is a summary:

  1. Small Groups will now be meeting onsite for the summer.
  2. Group time will be 7:00 - 8:30 pm. Please be prompt for pick up at 8:30 pm.
  3. Groups will be combining for the summer in the following combinations:
    1. Grade 5-8 Boys (Junior High)
    2. Grade 5-8 Girls (Junior High)
    3. Grade 9-12 Boys (High School)
    4. Grade 9-12 Girls (High School)
  4. We will be following a set of social distancing guidelines for the safety of all those attending. Guidelines are below. Please read them carefully and talk through the guidelines as a family.
  5. Those who still wish to join online are encouraged to do so and each group will have a device available for online participants.
  6. Groups will meet every second week for the summer. Here is the schedule:

29 – Junior High Boys/Girls

6 – High School Boys/Girls
13 – Junior High Boys/Girls
20 – High School Boys/Girls
27 – Junior High Boys/Girls

3 - Off (Long Weekend)
10 – High School Boys/Girls

Guidelines for Youth Small Groups Meeting Onsite

  • Groups will meet outside if weather permits. Please bring your own lawn chair.
  • Individuals should space out (6 feet/2 meters) and practice social distancing at all times.
  • Upon approaching the group, the group leader will ensure each person sanitizes their hands and signs in for the group.
  • There is to be no physical contact between group members (hand shaking, hugging, touching, passing/or sharing of items) other than those from the same household.
  • If entering the building to use the washroom, one person in washroom at a time. The person must sanitize their hands when returning back to the group.
  • No communal food will be served at this time. Individuals can bring their own snack/drink.
  • All activities involving participants will respect social distancing (i.e. games)
  • If weather requires groups to meet inside. The following rooms are assigned:
    • East Auditorium
    • West Foyer
    • Grade 5-6 Room (if necessary)
  • Individuals should space out (6 feet/2 meters) and practice social distancing when entering/leaving building and remain distanced at all times. Seats will be set up in advance 6 feet/2 meters apart.
  • Please use the East Auditorium door for entering and exiting the building
  • A leader will be placed at the door and as participants enter, they will ensure:
    • Hands are sanitized
    • Each participant signs in

Anyone experiencing any of the following symptoms should not attend in person gatherings:

  • Fever
  • Cough (new cough or worsening chronic cough)
  • Shortness of breath of difficulty breathing (new or worsening)
  • Runny nose
  • Sore throat
  • Painful swallowing
  • Headache
  • Chills
  • Muscle or joint aches
  • Feeling unwell in general, or new fatigue or severe exhaustion
  • Gastrointestinal symptoms (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or unexplained loss of appetite)
  • Loss of sense of smell or taste
  • Conjunctivitis (known as pink eye)

Public Health Orders in effect at the time of publication stipulate individuals having a fever, cough, shortness of breath, runny nose or sore throat are legally required to isolate for 10 days from the onset of those symptoms, or until the symptoms resolve, whichever is longer. Persons with any of the other listed symptoms should stay home and minimize their contact with others until their symptoms resolve.

To join one of our online Refuge Small Groups you will need to download an app called "Zoom Cloud Meetings."

  • This app is available in your device's app store or you can download it directly from the Zoom website if you plan to use a laptop or computer.
  • It is not necessary to make an account, but it is recommended.



Once you have the app on your device you will find individual group information below so that you can "join the meeting."

Click on your group link Mondays around 6:55 pm.  You will be put into a "waiting room" area.  The group leader will then click you into the meeting area.  You will want to enable both your audio and video as you are prompted.
