56er Event Coordinator

This 10-month, part-time (average 7 hours/week) role is designed for passionate individuals excited about the Bible and helping others, specifically children, learn about Jesus. This person attends Heartland Alliance Church regularly and is a team player. This person reports to the Pastor of Youth - 56ers and Junior High, Sydney Courville.

The 56er Coordinator will oversee the planning and implementation of Grade 5-6 programming. The coordinator will create and maintain a safe environment for children mentally, physically, and spiritually.

Qualifications:
  • Identify with and be passionate about Heartland’s vision and strategies and how it is realized in the lives of kids, youth and young adults.
  • Enthusiastic about accomplishing ministry in team.
  • A desire to support and see Heartland grow.
  • Must be 18+ years of age.
 
Responsibilities:
56er Friday Events:
  • Submitting plans for 56er events in advance to the Next Gen Lead Team for approval.
  • Running and supervising all 56er events on their designated event nights.
  • Developing a team of qualified, passionate leaders to support 56er events.
  • Working to provide fun, safe, and budget-conscious events for 56er students.
  • Communicating with appropriate Heartland Staff to advertise, book, and set up payment methods for pre-approved events.
56er Heartland Kids Classes
  • Teaching and overseeing Grade 5-6 weekend lessons three weekends a month.
  • Working to provide an engaging church experience for Grade 5-6 students.
  • Maintain a positive attitude towards children and families attending Heartland Alliance Church, in and outside the church setting.
  • Report any concerns with children or their families to the Next Gen Lead Team.
 
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Ongoing errands and tasks as assigned by supervisor.
  • Have a mature attitude when dealing with sensitive information regarding anyone working at or attending Heartland Alliance Church.
  • Commit and contribute to a healthy work environment through open communication with appropriate staff and lead team members.
  • The hourly rate of pay for this position is above minimum wage, but reflective of applicant experience.

The successful candidate must complete Operation Protect Training and acquire a Criminal Record Check (CRC) for Heartland Alliance Church files.

Encounter Homeschool -
Physical Education Facilitator

Encounter Homeschool is seeking to fill one part-time position for the 2026/2027 school year.

The position will commence in early September and conclude at the end of May with an average commitment of 5 hours per Co-op Thursday. The role will involve participating in a parent information evening, Co-op Thursdays, and facilitator debrief meetings.

Hours will typically be from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm on Thursdays with additional time allocated for cleanup and lesson planning. Some hours may involve volunteer work for planning and preparation.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate a strong connection to their faith and a passion for incorporating this into their teaching, along with the ability to demonstrate flexibility and adapt to different ability levels. This position will require planning Physical Education activities for multiple grade groups. The ability to be creative, along with choosing and implementing a wide range of sports and activities, is required. While a background in education is an asset, it is not mandatory.


Responsibilities:
  • Plan and implement a wide variety of sports and activities for children from Grade 1 up to Grade 12.
  • Use creativity to develop fun and engaging 30-minute slots for each grade group (Grades1/2, Grades 3/4, Grades 5/6, Grades 7/8, Grades 9-12).
  • Brainstorm and collaborate with the Director and other facilitators to present unique learning and discovery opportunities.
  • Allow for different abilities and skills, and adapt activities as needed.
  • Arrive 30 minutes before Co-op start time.
  • Stay after the Co-op is done to clean up equipment.
