Summer Groundskeeper

Heartland is seeking a responsible person who enjoys working outdoors and is able to work independently, to join our team for May through August! This position will be part of the Facility Team, with the primary task of keeping the grounds of Heartland’s Highway 21 campus in ideal condition through the spring and summer.
 
Typical responsibilities will include:
  • Lawncare – mowing, trimming, watering, weed control, rock picking, etc.
  • Shrubs and trees – trimming, weeding, watering
  • Cleaning – external garbage and site cleanup, window washing, power washing sidewalks and entrance mats, other general cleanup as required
  • Other – general maintenance duties as required

Hours
  • This is a full-time position of 40 hours/week
  • Working hours are generally 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday
  • Position starts in early May, and ends August 30 (both start date and end date to be determined by Facility Coordinator, based on Heartland’s need and employee’s availability)

Experience
  • No experience necessary, training provided
  • Previous experience with power mowing/trimming equipment would be an asset, but is not required

Encounter Homeschool - Grade 1/2 facilitator

Encounter Homeschool is seeking to fill one part-time facilitator position for the 2025-2026 program year.

The position will commence in early September and conclude at the end of May with an average commitment of 5 hours per Co-op Friday. The role will involve participating in 28 Co-op Fridays and a Parent Orientation Meeting.

Hours will typically be from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm on Fridays with additional time allocated for cleanup and lesson planning. Some hours may involve volunteer work for planning and preparation.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate a strong connection to their faith and a passion for incorporating this into their teaching along with the ability to demonstrate flexibility and adapt to different ability levels. While a background in education is an asset, it is not mandatory.
 
The right individual will:
  • Plan and teach various subject areas from a Christian viewpoint throughout the morning (this will include devotions)
  • Use creativity to develop smaller activities under the broad outlined structure
  • Brainstorm and collaborate with the Director and other facilitators to present unique learning and discovery opportunities
  • Allow for group-based learning and social time
  • Arrive 30 minutes before Co-op start time
  • Stay after the Co-op is done to clean up the classroom and put away supplies
